| In November
2010, residents of the 77th Assembly District elected Brian to
represent them in the California State Assembly. During the initial
months of his first term, Brian has devoted time to successfully
defeating tax and fee increases on California businesses and working
families. In addition, he is a vocal opponent of the rural fire fee,
special favors for unions, infringement upon Second Amendment rights,
and the growth of state boards and commissions. As a freshman legislator, Brian has worked to curb the influence of special interests by introducing AB 860, the Corporation and Union Influence Reduction Act. He has also introduced legislation that would reform the California High-Speed Rail project by reducing corruption and minimizing tax-dollar waste. Through his private and public sector experience, Brian has developed the strong convictions he holds in free market principals and the need for government reform to eliminate red tape and reduce taxes. His experience as a local elected official has strengthened his resolve to restore decision making to the local level and bring our tax monies home to meet local needs. Brian has been a Santee resident since 1978 and was elected to the Santee City Council in November 2002 and re-elected in 2006. Brian's service at Santee City Hall allowed him the unique opportunity to help design and implement a bright vision for the city's future. As a Vice Mayor and City Councilman, Brian led the city's planning and approval of new retail projects, the Town Center Corporate Campus, long awaited move-up housing and the new YMCA Aquatic Center and Santee Town Center Park. Brian currently serves as the Deputy Floor Manager for the Assembly Republican Caucus and sits on six committees: Assembly Legislative Ethics; Budget; Human Services (Vice Chair); Judiciary; Water, Parks and Wildlife; and the Select Committee on San Diego Trade, Tourism and Job Creation. As a member of these committees, Brian has made it a priority to reclaim California's status as the Golden State of opportunity, innovation, and jobs. Brian attended Santee Elementary, Cajon Park Jr. High, and Santana High School. After graduating from high school, Brian attended San Diego State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. As Brian and his wife, Heather, began their family, they purposely chose Santee (Heather also grew up in Santee and is a Santana graduate) as the community in which they wanted to raise their family. Brian and Heather have lived in the same neighborhood for the last sixteen years while raising their three children. In his spare time, Brian enjoys mountain biking, off-roading, swimming and playing with his family. |
