Gasoline taxing on motorists - Brian W. Jones

Gasoline taxing on motorists

March 31, 2013
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Increasing gasoline taxes are a sure bet.

The State Board of Equalization has voted to add 3.5 cents a gallon.

Riverside County Assemblyman Brian Jones notes that Californians already pay close to 70-cents in state taxes per gallon.

“California currently has the second-highest gas taxes in the nation. But after this new tax, we will have the highest.”

The Board of Equalization says the tax increase is due to a “shortfall” in gas tax revenue, partially related to less consumption by drivers.
